  • What is a Certified Signing Agent?

    • A Certified Signing Agent is a notary public who specializes in the process of obtaining and notarizing the signatures of the party(ies) involved in the closing of real estate loans and other business transactions. To become a Certified Signing Agent, one takes an educational class, and passes an examination that tests their knowledge of the correct Loan Document Signing Procedures and the Notary Public Laws pertaining to their state.     • Certified Signing Agents are hired as independent contractors by the lender to act as an impartial witness that may visit one’s home, business, hospitals, or other public meeting area to over see, expedite and complete the loan signing process in a stress free manner.
  • NTxSA and other Signing Agents are not licensed Attorneys and cannot answer legal questions regarding legal matters pertaining to loan documents or other legal matters.
  • A Certified Signing Agent is not a Closing Agent and cannot change information pertaining to the loan documents without the permission of the lender. NSA may identify and guide the borrower to certain documents to answer specific questions, but cannot explain the legal significance of specific provisions within the loan package.
